Japanese Language Portal Launched
Posted by Ben Goh | July 10, 2010.
It is with pleasure that I announce the launch of Xleeque Japanese Portal on Facebook. Given the scale and social nature of Facebook, integrating Xleeque.com into Facebook platform means possibilities waiting to be explored. However, this integration did not come cheap – a lot of efforts had gone into making things work across boundaries. And a lot is still left to be done, too.
Changes
- Facebook Graph API: Xleeque.com utilizes the new Graph API on Facebook, which makes it very easy to authenticate a user on site.
- Facebook "Like" button: Wherever necessary, a "Like" button is added to pages on Xleeque.com. If any content is found to be interesting, the site user can share it easily with just a single button click, and it shows up on her Facebook Wall.
- Facebook "Comment Box": A "Comment Box" is added to all "News" and "Article" pages. This allows site users to easily post comments for any article, getting their voices heard.
- Site database on SQL Azure: The article and user systems are now database-driven. This backend database is being hosted on SQL Azure platform, making it that much reliable and scalable.
We have started exploring the potentials of this integration at the same time, you will hear from us soon as we have anything to share.
Regards,
Xleeque Design Team.
Japanese culture and the unique characteristics it exhibits have never been anything
less than fascinating to me. The unwritten rules of Bushidō among Samurai warriors,
the highly elaborated kimono of a Geisha, the multifaceted chanoyu tradition, and
many other things just go to show the cultural richness of the Japanese.
