The New Super Stackana Game

Note: This is about the new Super Stackana game.

The fall of Stackana Freefall

Nearly two months ago we made the first announcement on the successor of Stackana Game – Stackana Freefall. We were only one month into its development at that time; it was also when the whole idea surrounding menu system started to settle down.

We did have a clear idea of how the game play was suppose to be – simultaneous falling character blocks with gravitational pull, physics, and obstacles. That was the reason the game was named "Stackana Freefall".

Then something changed – we got too close to the release of Silverlight 5 Beta. This time last month we realized that having GPU accelerated graphics in Silverlight 5 makes much richer game scene possible. What could be taxing in Silverlight 4 can now be an easy job with hardware acceleration. It immediately became apparent to us that we needed to take advantage of this and create a more compelling game play.

All of a sudden the idea of falling character blocks is now a thing of the past, and the new game play has changed so much that the word "Freefall" does not make sense anymore... and that marks the end of Stackana Freefall.

The born of Super Stackana

As we leave the new game play details to another day, by looking at this image below it should be obvious why we name the game this way:
